Compare Medicare Supplement Plans

We have 12 different Medicare Supplement plans available. Some may not be available to everyone.

To make things easier, we have put all of our plans on one page so you can compare Medicare Supplement Plans (also known as Medigap) in one spot.

Medigap Plan A

Medicare Supplement Plan A is an insurance plan that takes care of the 20% copay for outpatient medical care Medicare leaves you with.

It also covers the first three pints of blood if you were to need a transfusion.

Medigap Plan B

Medicare Supplement Plan B is an insurance plan that takes care of the 20% copay for outpatient medical care Medicare leaves you with.

It also covers the first three pints of blood if you were to need a transfusion and Medicare Part A’s deductible.

Medigap Plan C

Medicare Supplement Plan C covers all of Medicare’s coinsurance or copayments, deductibles, the first three pints of blood of a transfusion, skilled nursing facility coinsurance, and 80% of a foreign travel emergency.

However, those who turned 65 after January 1, 2020 are no longer allowed to purchase this plan because it covers Part B’s deductible. This is because of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015.

Medigap Plan D

Plan D takes care of the 20% copay for outpatient medical care Medicare leaves you with.

It also covers the first three pints of blood if you were to need a transfusion, hospice care, skilled nursing facility coinsurance, and Medicare Part A’s deductible.

Medigap Plan F

Medicare Supplement Plan F offers the most comprehensive coverage out of all the supplements.

Unfortunately, because of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015, those who turned 65 after January 1, 2020 cannot purchase the plan because it covers Medicare Part B’s deductible.

If you are still eligible to purchase this plan, it covers 100% of all of your copay/coinsurance and deductibles associated with Medicare.

High Deductible Plan F

The high deductible Medigap Plan F offers the same coverage as “normal” Plan F, but has a $2,700 deductible (in 2023) to meet before it starts covering all of your coinsurance.

It too, however, is unavailable to anyone who turned 65 in 2020.

Medigap Plan G

Plan G covers 100% of the copays/coinsurance, deductibles, and excess charges other than Part B’s deductible.

Medicare Supplement Plan G now offers the most comprehensive coverage out of all the supplements because of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015.

That law states those who turned 65 after January 1, 2020 cannot purchase Plan F because it covers Medicare Part B’s deductible.

High Deductible Plan G

This high deductible Plan G provides the same coverage as “normal” Plan G but comes with a $2,700 deductible (in 2023).

Medigap Plan K

Medicare Supplement Plan K is a private insurance plan that covers 100% of your Medicare Part A coinsurance responsibility, 50% of your Part B coinsurance, and 50% of a couple of other items. It also features an annual out-of-pocket maximum limit of $6,940 in 2023.

Medigap Plan L

Medicare Supplement Plan L covers 100% of your Medicare Part A coinsurance responsibility, 75% of your Part B coinsurance, and 75% of a couple of other items. It also features an annual out-of-pocket maximum limit of $3,470 in 2023.

Medigap Plan M

Medicare Supplement Plan M offers 100% coverage of all of Medicare Parts A and B’s coinsurance requirements.

It also covers half of your Part A deductible.

Medigap Plan N

Medicare Supplement Plan N covers 100% of all of your coinsurance related to Medicare healthcare expenses and even your Part A deductible.

However, it is a little different than other Medigap plans. With Plan N, you’ll pay $20 copay for some doctor’s office visits and up to a $50 copay for emergency room visits if you aren’t admitted as an inpatient.

Which Medicare Supplement plan is best?

If you’re looking for the plan with the best coverage, it will all depend on when you were born. If it was before January 1, 2020, the plan with the most comprehensive coverage is Plan F because it covers all of your copay/coinsurance expenses related to your Medicare benefits and both Part A and B deductibles.

If you were born after January 1, 2020, the greatest coverage available is Plan G. The only thing Plan F covers that Plan G does not is Part B’s deductible.

Even if you do qualify for Plan F, you might find the cost savings on Plan G’s premium is worth footing the bill for Part B’s deductible.

I appreciate all the help I received. I thought my coverage was good for me. I was shown a new policy along with my current policy. The new policy was almost the same as my current policy, but better. I have better coverage, plus perks because I am a diabetic. I am excited to work with someone who cares about me and my needs.
